Vintage Pyjamas

Comfort’s great, but don’t you sometimes just long for a bit of glamour in your life? For the days when lazing around the house in your pyjamas meant slips of silk and satin in jewel colours and marabou slippers?

Whether these days ever actually existed, or not, slobbing around the house in paint spattered tracksuit bottoms and vest top, or even your comfy check pj bottoms isn’t going to make you feel like the glamorous sex kitten you know you are deep inside.

Trimmed in lace and ribbons with glamorous full sleeves, you really need
a dressing table laden with cut crystal perfume bottles and huge fluffy powder brushes.

Wear it over this fab rose pink 60s nylon slip £20 from Candy Says.

Why should we only dress up when other people are going to see us?!

Treat yourself to this absolutely stunning 1940s black silk and pink satin peignoir set $179.99 from Bombshell Bettys and bring some old school Silver Screen glamour into your life, even if Fern & Phil are the only people who’ll see it (note to Americans, Fern & Phil present daytime TV in the UK!)

Of course, vintage nightwear isn’t for everyone, if high glamour isn’t your thing and pyjamas are the only way to go then there is always contemporary sleepwear available that doesn’t resort to flannel and towelling.

My favourite is this applique flower cami pyjama set from La Senza for only £18. It’s pyjamas you won’t feel embarrassed answering the door in!

Finally of course, there’s no point glamming up your nightwear if you’re going to have to slip your perfectly pedicured tootsies into manky old terry towelling slippers.

The essential glamorous lounging accessory is a pair of marabou mules, $24.99 from Amazon
