As you may remember, today was the Global Cool Swishing Party held in the super cool Carbon Bar at The Cumberland Hotel.
The venue was beautifully arranged and on arrival I was issued with cute boiled sweets to use as tokens to “purchase” the swished clothing and there was a beautiful “boutique” area for trying on the clothes.
Drinks and nibbles were had, before Scott Henshall introduced the event with some words about recycling and customising our exisiting wardrobes and some wise shopping advice.
After some browsing time we were let loose to grab our favourite items for a trying on session.
And when I say let loose I mean NOTHING comes between a woman and a free pair of Prada heels.
The Prada heels were unfortunately too small for me, but there were other celebrity donated items. Fellow Blogger Vikki Chowney from Bitch Buzz made off with a gorgeous black sequin jacket donated by Sandy Thom.
Myself I have a couple of lovely new evening dresses, a nice new shirt and a satin ruffled top, but, best of all, I was the lucky winner of this stunning dress, donated by Scott Henshall. It was Paris Hiltons, so won’t go over my knees, but it’s beautiful and it’s all mine.
Having seen how easy and how much fun it is to throw a swish I’m considering throwing one of my own. It was pressure free shopping, with drinks and nibbles thrown in, and best of all it didn’t cost a penny!
In the UK about 900,000 tonnes of clothing is sent to landfill each year, and around half of that should be reusable. Add to that the clothes you have hanging in your wardrobe that you never wear, but can’t bear to throw out and you have a huge pool of fabulous clothing just desperate for a new owner to love and care for it and take it to fabulous parties.
