At the beginning of this month the flagship Oxfam store on Camden High Street received a major face lift from stylist Mrs Jones and recreated itself as a major destination for creative fashionistas who love vintage, DIY and creating looks from something a bit out of the ordinary.

Alongside this Oxfam has launched Oxfam DIY, an online fashion resource which includes some great “How To’s” to get you started on the DIY trail. I recently bought a scarf with such a fantastic print on it that it seemed such a shame to use it as a scarf, so I’m tempted to try turn it into a halter top by following the websites instructions. Oxfam have been a trailblazer for re vamping the image of charity shops as resources not for designer fashion, but for people who want something different from the high street and aren’t afraid to experiment. As part of their celebrations they have launched a fantastic competition, perfect for those who know fashion is about more than following the catwalk and are interested in ethical and sustainable style.

The Competition is being judged by Mrs Jones aka Fee Doran, the super celebrity stylist who created Kylie’s iconic white hooded catsuit from the “I can’t get you out of my head” video and the prize is to receive your own truly unique DIY creation designed especially for you by Mrs Jones!

See some of the stunning photographs of Mrs Jones creations at the Oxfam launch below, and if you feel inspired then to enter all you need to do is submit a photograph of yourself (or a friend!) modelling your own customised creations via email or to the Oxfam DIY Flickr site.

Check out the website for full details of how to enter the competition and to get more inspiration from their HOW TO pages.
