Gorgeous Grey Days

in How To Wear...

422153536_80c77c1febWell, so much for that Barbecue summer they promised us, it’s been all over the news all day that actually all they said was a 65% chance of a hot summer and now they’ve decided it’s more likely to rain. Consistent, constant, drizzly rain.

Well, they didn’t specify the type of rain but seeing as I’m sitting here as I type with soggy ankles from a dash across a car park I think the adjectives are probably appropriate.

So, unless you’re leaving the UK for sunnier climes (or you already live in sunnier climes) then pop away your brights and match your clothes to the weather.

Grey gets a lot of stick for being boring and bland, but it’s easier on the skin tone than the ubiquitous black and feels less like school uniform than navy (even though my uniform was grey…)

Mix different shades and textures for a more interesting visual effect

Shades of Grey
Jeans - £45 Oasis
2 in 1 top - £38 Betty Jackson
Necklace - £15 Dorothy Perkins
Peep toe boots - £65 Miss Selfridge
Bag - £55 Debenhams

Mix grey and white for a fresher feel, in stripes or with accessories.

Mociun Silk MuuMuu - £51.25 Devidoll
White Linen Blazer - £40 Topshop
Maaike Mekking Striped Leggings - £69 Farfetch.com
10m2 Grey Tube bracelet - £130 MyWardrobe
Ernesto Esposito Suede Slingbacks - £411.84 Luisaviaroma
Quilted Shoulder Bag - £32 YesStyle

Brighten up your grey with pinks or greens. Think grey skies and blossoms and keep it chic not kitsch by making sure your styles are grown up.

Fair Trade Button & Bead Necklace - $20 Ten Thousand Villages
Lauren Adriana Hat - £245 Browns Fashion
Vintage Dress - £19.99 Retro Chick
Ring - £90 Anedoti
D&G Peep Toes - £119 Farfetch

I think grey is very underrated, but “school uniform” colours often don’t appeal to people I think.
