10 Question Style Snapshot – Jenny of The Style PA

As I continue in my quest to find out as much information as possible about the wardrobes of some of my favourite bloggers I asked Jenny from The Style PA to let me have a virtual nose around her wardrobe.

This was a particularly interesting one for me as The Style PA is probably one of the slightly less personal blogs I read, meaning Jenny and her wardrobe are a bit more of an enigma.

Reasons you should read her blog:

She’s full of great tips for everything from dealing with fine hair to how to wear a jumpsuit

She covers a great range of girly goodies: fitness, beauty and fashion

She keeps you up to date with the latest trends and collections without ever being self indulgent

1. What was the first piece of vintage clothing you remember buying or owning?

I used to pick up vintage brooches all the time when I was younger and had the time to peruse charity shops, but the first big thing I bought was an orange skirt suit by Louis Feraud for £15. It’s got fab gold buttons and is totally eighties style… I’ve only ever been brave enough to wear the jacket or the skirt at once and never the two together.

2. What was the last item of clothing you bought?

I recently picked up some leggings, coloured tights and a strapless dress from Debenhams. Can’t resist a sale and with the party season almost in full swing you can never have too many party options.

3. What is the most expensive item of clothing you’ve ever bought?

I’m really a bargain hunter at heart. The most expensive item I’ve ever bought are probably my flat, black leather boots from Office which were £100. Because I change my mind so often I am wary of spending more than that on any one thing but I know I’ll wear the boots for a few years.

4. What’s your current favourite item of clothing?

I picked up a bold-shouldered jacket at a sample sale for £2 and wore it to death all through September. I always get comments on it and someone I met at London Fashion Week even thought it was a £2000 designer jacket (it’s definitely not!). This has to be my best purchase to date, but I’ve worn it so much now I need to find something else that hasn’t been seen by everyone I know.

5. Do you prefer heels or flats?

I much prefer the look of heels but I can’t stand my feet aching so I tend to go with flats most of the time. I save my heels for nights out or when I really want to make an impression at work. I’m only 5ft 3 so I feel taller and slimmer when I’ve got some high heels on.

6. Describe your style in 3 words.

Tailored, girly but changeable.

7. Skirts or trousers?

I’m a skirts girl all the way. If I could live in pencil skirts and tailored jackets I would, it’s just so much more feminine especially because I have a curvy figure. Trousers tend to look better on athletic body types in my opinion.

8. How much do you spend on clothes in an average month?

I’m actually quite lucky these days working within retail. I get to go to sample sales where I pick up lots of trend-driven pieces. This then allows me to spend a bit more when I really need, or fall in love, with something.

9.How is your wardrobe organised?

My wardobe is organised as best as it can be. Bags sit on shelves and I use vegetable racks to store my shoes (helps if you have little feet). Jumpers and jeans go in drawers under my bed and pretty much everything else is hung up in my double wardrobe. I’m a little obsessed with my jewellery though, I’ve got an old shop fitting for my necklaces and bracelets and I made a wooden frame covered with muslin to hang all of my earrings on – I have loads!

10. Are you sentimental about your clothes?

I’ve given up being sentimental. There are so many things I’ve got rid of over the years that I wish I still had but until I have a walk-in-wardrobe the size of my bedroom there is no way I can store everything. I think of my wardrobe as an evolving thing, I’m always adding new or vintage things, and clearing out the stuff I don’t wear any more. It keeps things fresh and interesting to wear, but I’ve still got a few key items that I’ve had for years and years.
