Dear Father Christmas…..

in Christmas,hot picks

I’m a massive fan of Christmas, but not of the sudden manic gift obsession that seizes normally perfectly reasonable people from somewhere around the end of November and culminates in cinematic atrocities like *shudders* Jingle All The Way.

There’s a lot of pressure at this time of year to suddenly think of that “perfect” gift and battle through the manic hordes to get it.  Last year I took Mr Chick to the Cinema to see his favourite film – It’s a Wonderful Life – on Christmas Eve. It’s wonderful when the perfect present just falls into your lap like that. But the truth is that the buying of presents is one of the most stressful parts of the holiday and can squash that fledgling Christmas spirit like a grape under the wheels of a supermarket trolley.

I, of course, live to make life easy for others.  So to help anyone planning to buy me a gift avoid that terrible stress here’s a few things I would like to find in my Christmas Stocking come the 25th December…..

dressJessica Dress from People Tree

There is NOTHING I don’t love about this dress. The square neckline, the loose sleeves, the pleated skirt, the grey and black handwoven cotton *sigh*

If Santa managed to stuff this in my stocking I would wear it Christmas Day with red tights and a belt for some festive cheer.

Vanilla Scoop Gift Box from Lush

I adore Lush products and like to spend my Boxing Days camping outside ready for their amazing sale to start (not really, it’s too cold for camping, but not far off).

I also love the smell of Vanilla, it smells warm and makes me think of baking biscuits. This year I would like to spend my Christmas wafting around smelling like a baking biscuit, and when I am done I would like to use the gorgeous retro gift box to store things in and make my bathroom look beautiful. Recycling in action….

Cameo Stripe Eliza Umbrella from Lulu Guinness

I spend far too much of my life looking like this:

I would like to not look like this any more and in order for that to happen I will need a decent umbrella. One that is pretty enough for me to want to carry round with me and special enough for me not to leave under chairs in pubs. This one is pretty enough to double up as a sun shade during the summer.

Vintage Pearls Lingerie Set from Miss La La’s

Still on the search for beautiful Lingerie this set from Miss La La includes tap pants and a silk kimono for lounging around feeling glamorous in. Plus I expect it will fold up really small leaving plenty of space in my Christmas Stocking for…..beyond_skin_hazel_black_red_vegan_hemp_heel_pump_shoe_sd

Hazel T Bar Shoes from Beyond Skin

Because I NEED more shoes I can actually walk in and I WANT them to be pretty. Plus I like the festive red touch. The perfect partner for my new Christmas dress. Of course, I won’t fit in my Christmas Dress by the time I’ve finished tucking into the last thing on my Christmas list.

booja

Cognac Flambed Banana Truffles from Booja Booja

They’re chocolate, and banana, and cognac, and they’re Fair Trade. Because the last thing you want to have to think about when you’re tucking into chocolate at Christmas is the exploitation of indigenous peoples.
