What Are You Wearing? 50s Sun Dress and Denim

Did you all have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend?

There was actually some sunshine over the weekend, in between the torrential rain, and I took the opportunity on Friday to wear my new 1950s check sun dress.

I actually took these pictures this morning as I was too busy on Friday looking for things to fill my new Cocktail Cabinet, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to show it off.

❤ Dress - Vintage ❤ Bag - Vintage ❤ Shoes - New Look via a Charity Shop ❤
❤Hair Flower - AbiLu Creations ❤ Necklace - A gift ❤ Denim Jacket - TopShop ❤

I bought the dress about a week ago in an antiques market in town. I didn’t even try it on, but it fits like it was made for me. It says something about my body shape that I can spend all day on the High Street and find nothing that fits, but a 1950s vintage sun dress fits like a glove.

The colours on it are perfect for Spring. Sky blue and pastel pink checks make me think of blue skies and blossoms.

Also in the picture you can see some of the things I bought to fill up my cocktail cabinet. A set of 6 cute coloured glass 50s sundae bowls that are scarily delicate, but look adorable arranged on top and a cocktail jug, that looks 50s or 60s in style, but I can’t be sure. I also, of course, stocked up on some yummy liquers to make cocktails with.

Although it was sunny on Friday, I needed my handy fitted stretch denim jacket to keep out the chill.

Looking at these pictures also reminds me that Friday was the day I got refused service in a Wetherspoons pub as I didn’t have any ID. For the second time (though the first time I DID have ID so got served in the end)

I’m 31 in 2 weeks.

All I can say is if you need flattering lighting Wetherspoons is obviously the place to go….

The Wetherspoons comment made me giggle.
I do love your dress, and the denim jacket goes so well as a nice contrast. :)

You look great in that style of dress and kudos to you for buying genuine vintage rather than high street.

I think a lovely vintage straw tote will look great with that dress too.

Love all your new vintage home ware too. :)

Wow – that dress is drop-dead gorgeous! So jealous. And I really love how you modernize it with the fitted jacket, too. Great mix of vintage + contemporary :-)

I love lovely little cotton dresses like this. Love the way you “toughened” it up with the denim jacket. Very cute.

Happy Birthday for 2 weeks time.

I love your dress. It is so adorable. And your shoes are amazing. New Look do great shoes; I have a similar pair.

Love the dress. I am 34 (just) and never get asked for ID anymore. Enjoy it while you can!

Wow the cabinet looks much bigger in this picture than the last, a great find.
