New Years Eve – Love it or Hate it?

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Ah, New Years Eve. That night of the year when “fun” is obligatory.

Personally I love to go out on New Year, it’s a perfect excuse to get all glammed up and get rid of that post Christmas slump. Yet I’m always surprised by the number of people who “hate” New Years Eve.

Do you Love or Hate New Years Eve?

In my late teens and early 20s I planned large elaborate nights out that left me miles away from home, hungover, cold, wearing inappropriate clothing for the weather and with no access to transport.

Since then I’ve learnt that actual “fun” is more likely to be found closer to home and a warm bed that I can stay in for as long as I like. This year I’m going to Carry on Swinging at The Talk in Norwich with the Bonanafana Social Club. I have yet to decide on an appropriately themed “Carry On” style outfit, so any suggestions are gratefully received!

What are YOU doing for New Years Eve?

New years usually meant house parties, drunken twister and impromptu walks with friends to the pier…this year I feel like I’ve gotten old. I’d prefer to star gaze with a loved one on a beach relatively close to home and then jump into my cosy bed and sleep sleep sleep

I actually prefer to go to someone’s house party or have one of my own with close friends. Now that I have a child, we still get together with others who have kids and try to make a night of it πŸ™‚

I think I’ll be going to a friend’s house party this year. I’m looking forward to finally having an excuse to wear my pretty sparkly black dress that has yet to see the world outside of my closet.

Ug NYE! So much pressure to be at the right party and to have as much drunken roudy-ness as possible, that no plans ever live up to my hype! But this year, we’re house hopping and ending up at 34th street lights for the ball drop!

I’m going to a “modern masquerade” inspired by Truman Capote’s black and white ball. I’m going vintage shopping for a dress: something sparkly!

always hated it, too much pressureto go out and party. But then last year had the best new yearsever, wore my bright yellow skirt and danced with friend s(house party) for the first hour+ of the year. πŸ™‚

That sequined dress in the first photo is rocking hard. I don’t own a sequined dress (not one I like anyway) so I’m thinking liquid leggings a chain tee for NYE.

As for plans, well my new guy wants to have me over, and I’m definitely not going to say no. πŸ™‚

NYE is always difficult. It always feels like there’s a load of pressure to have the most amazing night ever and it never quite turns out like that! So this year we’re going for a quiet dinner and then seeing the New Year in with a glass of champagne before hitting the sack! I do have a beautiful new dress though! πŸ™‚
